THE OCEAN

When I float on the ocean, I look up and see

Lovely pillowy clouds sailing over me.

Salty water tingles my skin, tickles my toes.

The sun feels warm, beaming down on my nose.

The ocean is happy and playful today.

Come and listen to what she has to say.

She is large, wet and full of living things.

We all depend on her, even animals with wings.

Sail your boat from shore to shore.

She’ll let you take an adventurous tour.

There are whales, seahorses, crabs and fish.

Care for God’s ocean, so creatures don’t perish.

Glorious Seasons

The air is fresh and crisp in Spring.

Mother Robin and her babies sing.

A kitten purring in my hand.

Gentle waves caress the sand.

Summer flowers delight the eye.

White swans swim in a pond nearby.

Children play all day with a friend,

Never wanting Summer to end.

The Weeping Willows sway in the Fall.

Colored leaves paint trees so tall.

Whispering winds are all around.

Acorns and seeds scatter on the ground.

Cold nights announce that Winter is here.

Snow trails show tracks of a prancing deer.

Cardinals are radiant against the snow.

Everything God made, is a present to bestow.

The following two poems were the winners of the 2004 Worldwide Poetry for Peace Contest

PEACE RIVER

Tears on my face is what you see
when lives are ended tragically.

There is a solution better than war.
It's time to open a brand new door.

We can find a way to all work together,
before it's too late and the door shuts forever.

Rise up everyone and take a fresh stand
Reach out and hold your neighbor's hand.

Follow your heart straight over the rainbow
and there you'll see the Peace River flow.

There are many who travel and thirst for peace
day after day searching and will never cease.

The Peace River brings joy and comfort to all
who listened with their ears and heard His call.

The Peace River exists in a very special place.
All who drink there have a smile on their face.

There are no more wicked plans for a battle,
just kind souls, rainbows, sheep and cattle.

So come join the others as it's time to go…
as Peace awaits just over the rainbow.

HEARTFELT PEACE

Peace is a moment reflected upon
Dreams and visions start to unfurl.
Peace today is harder to find,
As we labor away to find this pearl.

A new fresh beginning, like Spring.
Peace is a season to try.
Kind people will do just anything
to make someone smile and not have them cry.

Pray for all people to join together
Rejoicing and living in sweet harmony.
Battles and wars are erased forever.
Celebrations are heard over land and sea.

Peace will no longer be
if we all stop working towards this.
We must open our eyes to see
a joined effort creates such bliss.

One by one this job can be done
Pray for guidance each day.
Peace is music that can be heard.
Peace is God's chosen way.
