~ CHAPLAIN'S PAGE ~

MY NAME IS CHAPLAIN VIRGINIA NORRIS. I COUNT IT A GREAT HONOR TO BE YOUR CHAPLAIN. THIS IS THE THIRD OF THE MONTHLY MESSAGES I WILL BE POSTING ON THIS PAGE. THIS MONTH WE CONTINUE OUR SERIES ON GOD. IN THE NEXT FEW MONTHS, WE'LL EXPLORE ~

WHO IS THIS GOD? IS GOD JUDGMENTAL OR KIND AND FORGIVING? WHAT DOES GOD WANT FROM ME? HOW CAN I HEAR GOD SPEAK TO ME?

Last month we discovered ways to know whether God is real or not. Did you ask God to show Himself to you? It would be great for you to share with us what you asked Him and what happened. This month we will begin to answer the questions: "WHO IS THIS GOD?" "WHAT IS HE LIKE?" Here we are living on earth, and there's a big God out there who carefully made the whole universe, all the stars and planets you can see. He made not only the large heavenly bodies, but also the billions of microscopic animals and plants. He took care in making you so well, both inwardly and outwardly. Should we be afraid of such a great being, or try to come closer? Who is this God? What is He like? Is He mean, or nice? Will He laugh at me or get angry if I try to talk to Him? Is He there waiting to punish me if I do something wrong, or can I be His close friend?

God has a distinct personality. When I was in fourth grade, God showed me His love and I began to get to know Him. None of my friends knew God and there was no one I could talk to about Him because I didn't know how to put God's personality into words. When I went to college, I met other students who knew God too. I was amazed that they had experienced God the same way I had.

 

God cares about you. You are not a mistake to Him. He planned your birth and was so happy when you were born. To Him, you are a blessing, and He delights to be with you. If you tell him about your whole day, He would really like that. True, He knows already, but when you talk to Him, it gives Him a chance to relate, to talk with you, to be friends with you. It sounds incredible, but you can be friends with the Person who made the whole universe! Next month you can read more about the God who made you, here on GOD TALK.
