~ GOD TALK ~
~ CHAPLAIN'S PAGE ~

MY NAME IS CHAPLAIN VIRGINIA NORRIS. I COUNT IT A GREAT HONOR TO BE YOUR CHAPLAIN. THIS IS THE FOURTH OF THE MONTHLY MESSAGES I WILL BE POSTING ON THIS PAGE. THIS MONTH WE CONTINUE OUR SERIES ON GOD. IN THE NEXT FEW MONTHS, WE'LL EXPLORE ~

WHO IS THIS GOD? IS GOD JUDGMENTAL OR KIND AND FORGIVING?
WHAT DOES GOD WANT FROM ME?

You know that there is a God who made the universe and who cares about you. If you missed some of the previous writings about God, just click on "Archived God Talk," and learn more about what God is like and the way he made you so carefully. He wants to be your friend. You are probably wondering, "How can I be a friend to Someone I can't see? How can I be sure God is listening to me? Can He answer me? Why can't I hear him talk the same way I talk with my friends?"

God made us to be friends with Him. Inside of us there is a spirit God put there so that we can contact Him. Our eyes bring in light so we can see. Our ears bring in sound. Our arms and fingers can feel what is there. Our mind can do math, English, and other languages. Our spirit is the part of us God put there to be able to contact Him, to know He is near, and to know what He wants to say to us.

Some people say that God doesn't exist. They say that because they can't see God. Can our eyes hear a song? Our eyes can see notes and then we can imagine what a song sounds like. When we hear the song, it sounds so much more like music. Can our ears taste a good dinner? Different parts of us are useful for different things. Our mind tries to understand God. Our ears try to hear Him. It is our spirit, however, that can contact God the best.

So where is this spirit and how do I use it? Have you seen someone who has injured their arm and perhaps had it in a cast for a long time? When a person's arm is not used or exercised, it becomes weak. That is the way our spirit can be if we have not exercised it. Our spirit needs food and exercise.

When we ask Jesus to come into our hearts, He comes and lives in our spirit. Then it is easier to find Him and we feel happy. The more we talk to Him and love Him, the more our spirits grow and become strong. As our spirits become stronger, it becomes easier to have God for a friend.

Next month you can read more about the God who made you, here on GOD TALK.

THERE ARE SO MANY REASONS TO THANK GOD.

FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME WITH YOUR OWN QUESTIONS, THOUGHTS AND IDEAS ABOUT GOD.

YOU MAY ALSO CONTACT ME WITH REQUESTS FOR PRAYER ABOUT YOUR NEEDS.

AND THIS MONTH IF YOU EVER TRIED TO RELATE TO GOD, COULD YOU WRITE AND LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU DID AND HOW IT WENT?

OR E-MAIL ME JUST A SENTENCE OR TWO ABOUT WHAT GOD MEANS TO YOU.

IF YOU DO, I WILL SEND YOU A SPECIAL MESSAGE. I WILL NOT TELL ANYONE WHAT YOU WRITE TO ME UNLESS I ASK YOUR PERMISSION FIRST. IF YOU AGREE, WE'LL PUBLISH YOUR THOUGHTS HERE ON "GOD TALK."
