A MESSAGE FROM
THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
I Love Apples
Apples make me think of my
boyhood on the farm. Autumn was a
wonderful time of the year when the
trees in the orchard were hanging
low with delicious fruit. Yes, I do
remember Mother's apple pie.
Even now, years away
from the innocent, beautiful childhood,
the memories are vivid and true. I
am so very thankful for my beloved
parents and the nurturing they so
freely gave. My heart is filled with
love that they showed me the way to
God.
And God's love is
the most magnificent gift available
to each of us.
Now, He has given
us the vision to launch this website
to bring children of the world together
in a virtual community by sharing
spiritual and inspirational poetry
for peace. I am so very thankful for
this mission.
We have been blessed
with volunteers stepping forward,
from different locations, to give
of their time and talents. Most recently,
P.J. Dunn came on board as our web
administrator and Virginia Norris
joined our staff to serve as the site's
chaplain. P.J. has contributed wonderful
ideas and technical expertise in making
the site literally come alive. Virginia
will be offering a monthly message
of hope and faith. General Counsel
Debra Johnson has been of immense
assistance each step of the way. Thanks
to each one and the rest of the volunteers.
Thanks be to God for these dedicated
individuals.
Visitors from all
over the world are finding the site.
Most recently we have heard from Japan,
Mexico, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Sweden,
Canada, and South Africa to name a
few. Many repeat, loyal visitors from
Australia and New Zealand are also
most welcome. I am so very thankful
and so very humbled at how God is
blessing this mission.
John Chapman, a Massachusetts born
nurseryman, began growing apple trees.
He traveled around America planting
apple seeds wherever he went. His
dream was for a land filled with beautiful
trees where no one would be hungry.
All of these years later, some of
those orchards John Chapman, better
known as Johnny Appleseed, started
in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania,
and Ohio are bearing fruit.
This website is somewhat
like an orchard. Since it has been
operational for six months, we've
only begun to plant spiritual seeds
of hope and peace through poetry for
all of the world's children. Fruits
from our spiritual seeds, in God's
name, are just beginning to grow.
With your support and the Lord's leading,
we plan to be here for some time to
come with many exciting poetry programs
and children's activities.
Thanks to each of
you for sharing some of your valuable
time visiting with us. I invite you
to visit often and we want to hear
from you at Children's Worldwide Poetry
for Peace.
