WELCOME!
With holy holidays
upon us, I take great delight in welcoming
each visitor from around the world
to Children's Worldwide Poetry for
Peace.
Holy holidays, Christmas-Hanukkah-Ramadan,
are a wonderful and appropriate time
to remember holidays past but also
bring the opportunity of renewing
hope for the future. And we also remember
the renewal of Kwanzaa.
My memories of Christmas
are very dear, sharing gifts of love
and friendship with family and friends--Worshipping
together, sharing holiday treats,
laughing, singing. What a glorious
time of the year.

We never lose our
childhood memories. I remember traveling
with my family from upper New York
State to Rockefeller Plaza in New
York City. The magnificent holiday
tree, ice skaters doing fantastic
twirls and spins all over the ice
rink, and colored lights, lights,
lights-now that was another world.
I think we all become
children at heart when the holy holidays
are here. Parents, Grandparents, Kids~we
all share the warmth of being with
family and friends.
Yet, for many there
is little light, neither hope nor
peace. There is want and hunger and
war. As we rush around with all of
our holiday plans, it's good to remember
the real gifts of the holy holidays:
Forgiveness, Love, Kindness, PEACE.
Can we, should we not dedicate ourselves
to working toward freedom from hunger
and terror, poverty, disease, wars?
It's been said many
times, many ways: TO GIVE IS MORE
BLESSED THAN TO RECEIVE. Many of the
gifts we can give cannot be purchased
in a store or on the World Wide Web.
They are freely available to each
of us to give if we just open our
hearts. Living with an attitude of
PEACE and caring for others are gifts
not just for giving on holy days but
every day.
May
the Lights of PEACE and Goodwill shine
brightly this Holiday Season and throughout
2004 and may they begin with ME. This
is my prayer.
MERRY CHRISTMAS.
HAPPY HANUKKAH.
I look forward to
hearing from you this holiday season

caring. And please VISIT our Poetry
